Tuesday the 3rd: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Before heading to Santa Fe, we spent the afternoon in the Nob Hill neighborhood. We thoroughly enjoyed the retro signage and style of the area. The main strip in Nob Hill is Central Avenue. This road is also the original Route 66 and some structures are still hanging on from the 50's and 60's. Hope the city keeps these buildings and signs up...right now it seems that it's aiding urban revitalization in the area.

Below are some pictures of funky facades we encountered.

The focus is the Nob Hill sign here. A true retro landmark, unlike the Toad Road sign next to it.

The exterior of this place was incredible. Western art and automobilia are plastered all over the building...and the sign is just awesome.

Stopped in to get some film here and found that the back wall had tons of vintage cameras and supplies, almost a mini museum back there! Pretty neat place even if you're not making a purchase.

Not sure if the sign is a relic or not but it still fits in well with the other oldies on the strip. Plus, the store, Revolver, is awesome...fifties and sixties London mod clothing and accessories. They also had what looked like a vintage Honda cafe racer motorcycle for sale in the window. Pretty cool.

This Motel was pretty scary but the sign was wonderful.

Last but not least, the Albuquerque landmark theater Kimo. Wonderful mix of Pueblo Revival and Art Deco styles.
