Monday the 3rd: Badlands National Park, South Dakota
You drive several hours through some stunning prairie fields and then you get presented with an incredible landscape. It pops up all of a sudden, seeming to have fallen out of the sky...it just about takes your breath way.

Granted, it was very hot and dry but still unreal. To our suprise, animals thrive here. Below is a rabbit that was just outside our tent door when we woke up and a long distance shot of some Bison (one was trying to cool off by rolling in the dirt). There are so many amazing birds here too...ones we've never seen...very colorful.

Ended up spending the night here and just about lost the tent in a wind storm. Once we took off the rain fly, which was trapping all of the wind, it was much better. It was a nice cool night and we were able to watch a distance thunderstorm on the plains. Probably the best night camping so far.
